has anyone of you ever tried Chowder Soup before??? there are quite a number of most famous chowder being served in restaurants like Fish chowder, Clam chowder, Seafood chowder, Chicken chowder, corn shrimp chowder and few more... for those in malaysia, i can say it's pretty much safe n occay to order this soup, but those living abroad, make sure u ask for vegetarian one since i just found out the main key of chowder that this soup is enriched with salt pork fatback or bacon slices... the term vege is spesific for the chef to understand that he must substitute the pork and the bacon wt more plain butter....
since i've been craving for chowder long time already, i finally managed to do mine from scratch last nite.... i tried to find any yummy looking recipe over the net, but then decided to make it on my own way....
i actually din cook much, because chowder is simply thick and creamy and made it only enough to serve for two.... let's give it a try!!!
- 2 small-medium sized red skin potatoes, diced
- 1 stalk celery, cut in slices
- 1/2 carrot, diced
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 6 shrimps ( 6 ekor jeee yg kcik2 tu, buang kulit n kepala sume)
- 6 mussels (isi kepah/lala)
- 160ml fresh milk ( susu kotak HL)1 tblspoon flour
- quarter of chicken stock cube
- enough salt to taste
- 3 tblspoon butter
caranya... didihkan 2 setengah cawan air dalam periuk, kentang+udang+lala+daun leek masukkan dalam air didih selama 10 minit...
cairkan butter, tumis bawang... masukkan carrot, celery, air didihan kentang tadi, n kiub ayam.... tutup periuk n biarkan 5 minit api sedang2 sampai celery lembut... pahtu, just masukkan sume kentang, udang n lala, kacau2 n tutup kejap periuk dalam 3minit..... then masukkan susu n tepung dan kacau hingga agak2 pekat.... rasakan ngan garam n siap....
soup ni agak pekat, hidangkan ngan croutons, or biscuits.... simply delicious!!!
actually while me bz cooking this chowder, ceqsue was cooking bihun tomyam for herself... n she cooked quite a lot that she gave 2 full bowl of this dish to me n huns....
